First half goals from Chris Smith and Jack Mazzone enabled South Park to complete the double over East Grinstead Town.
A clearance from Thomas was flicked on by Jackson to Mazzone whose shot went wide. Pullin needed to be alert to head clear a cross from the right with Elliott waiting to pounce. Park broke the deadlock in the 13th minute when Smith cut in from the left and powered his right foot shot from the edge of the box past Dan Smith in the Town goal. Elliott’s shot from 22 yards was deflected into the hands of Smith. Mazzone’s long throw found Lavery whose shot hit the bar and Jackson’s shot on the turn was blocked by Smith as Park looked to extend their lead. Elliott headed a right wing cross over the Park bar in rare home attack. Park doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Mazzone’s shot from 18 yards flew past Smith giving the home keeper no chance. Lavery then had a shot saved. Sargents long range effort for Town was off target. McElligott overlapping down the right drilled the ball across the six yard box agonisingly just out of the reach of Smith.
McElligott’s cross from the right was deflected towards his own goal by Rolph who was thankful that his keeper was able to push the ball away for a corner. Mazzone’s left foot shot flew over the bar and Jackson had a shot blocked. Mazzone’s throw found Lavery whos shot was blocked before Park were reduced to ten men in the 87th minute when Pullin was shown his second yellow card of the evening. A through ball found Postance in space but Thomas was out smartly to block. Lavery moved effortlessly into the box and his shot was deflected behind for a corner. In the final minute of added time Thomas made another excellent save to preserve Park’s clean sheet.
