South Park will rue a number of missed chances as Faversham scored an equaliser in the 6th minute of added time to gain a point in a 1-1 draw.
The first chance of the game fell to Smith in the 3rd minute when Elliott’s cross found Smith who volleyed over the bar from 8 yards. However Park did not have to wait long to break the deadlock as a delightful cross from Moody on the left found Mazzone whose first touch created the space for him to beat Overland from 10 yards. Smith had another shot deflected which Overland was able to save. Stannard’s shot from 12 yards for Town came back off the post and Park cleared. Lovegorve burst in the Faversham area and his left foot shot was pushed away by Overland. Gallagher’s cross from the left was headed over the bar by Jackson. Lavery dragged a shot wide before heading a cross from Moody past the post. Thomas saved Stannard’s shot on the turn just before the half time whistle.
Merchant blocked Stannard’s shot from the edge of the area from which Park broke. Lovegrove’s square ball found Lavery who lifted the ball over his marker but his shot was deflected over the bar for a corner. Lavery’s shot from the edge of the area was saved by Overland. In the 55th minute Smith was brought down in the area and Park were awarded a penalty. Mazzone’s spot kick was saved by Overland with his leg and Smith’s follow up effort went over the bar. Walder’s free kick from 25 yards came back off the post’ Gallagher played in Mazzone but his shot from 18 yards flew past the post. Park were reduced to 10 men in the 73rd minute when Ayling was sent off. Thomas was off his line quickly to deny King. In the 6th minute of added time Thomas made an outstanding save to deny the visitors however the ball fell to Bourne whose shot from 12 yards found the bottom corner to earn the visitors a point.
On Saturday Park travel to the Pilot Field to face Hastings Utd.
