Greenwich Borough 2 - 1 South Park

South Park can count themselves unlucky as they went down to a 2-1 defeat at Greenwich Borough with both the Borough goals coming from debatable penalty decisions.

Park almost went in front in the 10th minute as Jack Mazzone unleashed a 25 yard shot which the Borough keeper tipped onto the post. Borough took the lead in the 14th minute as Barham scored from the spot after the referee harshly adjudged that Moody had handled when the ball bounced off his thigh and onto his arm. A defence splitting ball saw Mazzone and Kamurasi collide on the edge of the box and the ball was cleared. Lavery’s curling shot from 15 yards was pushed away by Kamurasi. Thomas in the Park goal saved comfortably from Fuseini’s long range effort. In the 40th minute Sammoutis raced onto a ball over the top of the Park defence and as he rounded Thomas it appeared to everyone in the ground that the Park keeper had brought Sammoutis down. That was with the exception of the referee who much to everyone’s amazement awarded South Park a free kick and cautioned Sammoutis for simulation.

Barham shot over the bar and Hunte fired wide as Borough looked to get an early goal at the start of the second half. Lovegrove’s ball into the box was not dealt with by Kamurasi who needed the help of his defenders to scramble the ball clear. Fitzsimmons shot wide from 8 yards as the ball dropped to him from a corner. Park equalised in the 70th minute as Mazzone’s through ball found Lavery who beat his marker and calmly found the bottom corner of the net. Borough were awarded a second debatable penalty in the 80th minute when substitute Dembele went to ground under a challenge from Lovegrove. It appeared that Dembele was already on his way down when any contact was made. Once again Barham beat Thomas to his right to score off the inside of the post.  Jackson’s shot on the turn was deflected behind for a corner. In stoppage time Lavery’s shot was deflected into the side netting and from the left wing corner Lavery’s header flew narrowly over the bar.
