South Park and Hastings Utd had to share the points after an entertaining game finished 1-1 at Whitehall Lane.

Hastings Utd were the better side for large periods of the first half  however it was Park who had the first attempt on goal when O’Sullivan’s shot from the edge of the area was pushed away by Horlock in the Hastings goal. Pullin cleared a misplaced ball from Park but only to Golding whose shot was saved by Thomas. Golding was to prove a threat on the Hastings right hand side timing his runs perfectly to beat Park’s appeals for offside however he was unable to provide the final ball to his fellow forwards. O’Sullivan was on hand to clear form Davies. Cruttwell’s free kick struck the Park wall. Moody’s free kick was met by Jackson whose header was cleared as Park’s forwards could not reach the loose ball. The deadlock was broken in the 40th minute when Gallagher’s misplaced pass was picked up by Davies who shot across Thomas nestled in the back of the Park net.  Merchant headed a Moody free kick wide on the stroke of half time.

Thomas made an excellent fingertip save to keep out a shot from Rodari form the edge of the area. Park drew level in the 59th minute when Mazzone’s through ball found Jackson and his long range shot picked out the bottom corner. Adam’s shot wide from 20 yards for Hastings and O’Sullivan on the cover cleared a dangerous Hastings attack. Mazzone raced onto O’Sullivan’s clever ball over the full back but he shot straight at Horlock. O’Sullivan’s cross from the right looked to have found Mazzone but he could not get enough on his header to direct it towards goal. Lavery cut inside form the left and as he was about to shoot Rowe got his foot to the ball to divert it to safety. Smith’s through ball was cleared by Horlock who was out of his area quickly to deny Lavery. O’Sullivan attacking down the right played in Lavery who was denied by Horlock. Deep into stoppage time Lavery’s deflected shot was saved by Horlock as both sides had to settle for a point.

Park entertain Sittingbourne on Saturday before travelling to East Grinstead Town next Tuesday.
