Molesey 1 - 2 South Park

South Park put the disappointment of their harsh exit from the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday behind them as they earned a hard fought 2-1 victory away at Molesey on Bank Holiday Monday.

 

Park attacked straight from the kick off and Tyreke Leslie’s cross from the right just drifted out of play at the far post. A right wing cross found Marklew in space in the Park area however the Molesey man shot wide. Matt Males free kick wide on the right was headed clear by the Molesey defence who counter attacked but Michael Eacott came off his line quickly to save at the feet of Charles. Males slipped a through ball into the path of Josh Greenleaf who shot straight at Johnson-Freeman in the Molesey goal. Gary Abisogun also shot straight at the Molesey keeper. The home side took the lead in the 34th minute when Ayo Majekodunmi’s shot from 30 yards flew into the top corner giving Eacott no chance. Park gave the ball away in midfield and were thankful to Eacott’s excellent finger tip save to keep the defecit to one at the break.

 

Park made two changes at the break with Ehis Izokun and Luciano Osbourne replacing Gary Abisogun and Emmanuel Kyei-Baffour. Males diagonal ball found Greenleaf in space but he was unable to bring the ball down and the chance had gone. Elijah Richardson replaced Josh Greenleaf who was able to hold the ball up and bring Park’s other attacking players into the game. Park drew level in the 63rd minute when Michael Eacott’s diagonal ball found Tyreke Leslie wide on the left and left his marker for dead getting to the bye line and pulling the ball back to Ehis Izokun who fired home from ten yards. Matt Males shot wide from distance as Park were enjoying their best spell of the game. Giani Ashley won the ball on the edge of his own box and having played the ball into midfield he set off down the right hand side to receive a return ball deep in the Molesey half. His cross from the right picked out Luciano Osbourne who volleyed high over the bar. Park took the lead in the 74th minute when a right wing cross found Tyreke Leslie at the far post who calmly scored from close range. A minute later Michael Eacott saved an angled drive across goal. Tyreke Leslie cutting in from the left shot wide. In the 78th minute Park were reduced to ten men when Ryan Healy was sent off for his second caution of the game. Eacott was on hand to deny Oyebola. The home side’s numerical advantage was cancelled out with 5 minutes to go when Quarshie was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident. Deep into stoppage time Molesey were awarded a free kick in a central position 20 yards from goal. Eacott pushed away the free kick to ensure that Park picked up their first points of the season.

 

Park are at home on Saturday to Bracknell Town and then have a friendly at home to Walton & Hersham on Tuesday 4th September.
