Park picked up their fourth league win of the season with a hard fought 3-1 victory away at Ramsgate,
Ramsgate created the first threat on goal in the second minute attacking down the right Adam Pullin at full stretch turned the ball behind for a corner. From a Park counter attack Mazzone slightly over hit his through ball for Chris Smith and Watkins in the Rams goal collected the ball on the edge of his area. Jack Mazzone played in Lavery who was denied by a last ditch tackle. Luke Elliott cleared a right wing cross at the near post to deny the home side. Watkins claimed a Lavery flick on from Jack Stafford’s long throw under the cross bar. Woolcott hit a shot from the edge of the area high over the Park bar. The deadlock was broken in the 39th minute when a clearance from Callum Thomas was flicked on by Gallagher to Chris Smith whose left foot volley flashed past Watkins into the top corner of the net to give Park the lead. Just before the break Lavery curled a right foot shot inches past the far post.
Elliott’s free kick on halfway was knocked down by Pullin for Smith who shot over the bar from 18 yards. Lavery shot straight at Watkins after some good work by Chris Smith. In the 62nd minute Dean Lovegrove’s diagonal ball picked out Smith in space who cut into the area and was brought down. Park skipper Kieran Lavery stepped up and converted the spot kick to double Park’s lead and in doing so score his 200th goal for South Park on his 366th appearance for the club. Moments later Callum Thomas was alert to rush off his line to block a shot from Smith and then Merchant blocked the follow up shot from the Rams centre forward. Thomas under sever pressure punched a right wing cross to safety. Adam Pullin’s angled drive was tipped over the bar by Watkins. Ramsgate pulled a goal back with 4 minutes left on the clock when they broke quickly from a Park corner and Smith converted Paxman’s through ball to give the home side hope of snatching a point. Park responded well and in stoppage time sealed the victory. A free flowing move saw Pullin pick out Dan Moody on the right and his precise through ball found Gallagher who side footed home from the edge of the area.

Park Manager Malcolm Porter was pleased with the result, “Ramsgate is a notoriously difficult place to come and get a result, especially as they were coming into the match in a really positive frame of mind after beating Egham in their FA Cup replay on Tuesday. So I am pleased to come away with three points and very appreciative of the long journey a number of our supporters made. There’s no doubt we weren’t at our best and it was a tough competitive match but I think our quality showed through in the end. The most notable aspect of the game was that our Captain Kieran Lavery scored his 200th competitive goal for the club – this is a fantastic return from his 366 matches for us and he continues to lead from the front and drive us forward on the pitch. I wish Ramsgate all the best for their FA Cup match against Chelmsford City next Saturday.” Porter then commented further on the weeks upcoming fixtures “We picked up several injuries on Saturday so we’ll need to assess those during the week. Tuesday will be a big challenge against Phoenix Sports, they’ve had an impressive start to the season and assembled a very talented squad. Then on Saturday we fly out to Guernsey in what is always a tough challenge in front of their fantastic crowd.”
