South Park made it three wins a row with a 3-0 home victory over Whytealefe.
Park started brightly and were soon causing problems for the Whyteleafe back line. Moody’s cross field ball found McElligott who picked out Smith but his shot was blocked. Elliott at full stretch cleared a dangerous looking attack for Whyteleafe. Hutchings headed a cross from the left wide. Smith’s shot was blocked by Debayo and Lavery’s free kick from 22 yards hit the wall. Mazzone’s shot from the edge of the area cannoned back off the bar. The deadlock was broken in the 27th minute when McElligott’s cross was flicked on by Lavery to Smith who shot across goal beat Merson. Two minutes later it was 2-0 as Mazzone’s left foot shot nestled in the bottom corner of the Leafe net. Thomas turned a long range shot from Azeez behind. Elliott blocked a Clement-Peter shot whilst Lavery also had a shot blocked. On the stroke of half time Merson pushed away Smith’s shot.
Gallagher shot wide from 20 yards as Park started the second half looking for a third goal. Lavery’s free kick was blocked and the ball fell to Smith who shot over the bar from 18 yards. Thomas saved an angled drive from Azeez to keep Park’s two goal lead intact. McElligotts ball found Lavery on the edge of the Leafe area and his first time shot beat Merson to increase Park’s lead. Leafe had a goal disallowed for offside when Debayo’s shot was turned in to the net by Hutchings who was in an offside position. O’Sullivan making his first appearance following knee surgery replaced Windsor. Whyteleafe were awarded a penalty following a foul by Gill however Thomas saved Clayton’s spot kick. Lavery’s flick found Mazzone who shot wide. In added time Thomas turned a long range shot from Graham behind to preserve Park’s clean sheet.
South Park are in action again on Wednesday when they travel to East Grinstead Town (7.30 pm). They then face leaders Lewes at the Dripping Pan on Saturday (3.00 pm) before Carshalton Athletic visit Whitehall Lane on New Years Day (3.00 pm)
